Jerusalem

This week's entry in the column "Digging Tswana Roots" by I.M. Leteane of Pitoronet.com, together with this week's entry in the column "This Earth my Brother" by Benson C. Saili in the WeekEndPost newspaper, seem most appropriate, given the current unrest in Jerusalem.

I have been reminded of an anomaly pointed out to me on the Internet. The Bible, at 2 Chronicles, Chapter 14, verse 9 states:
"And there came out against them Zerah the Ethiopian with an host of a thousand thousand; and three hundred chariots; and came unto Maresshah."
Most significantly, verse 15 states:
"They smote also the tents of cattle, and carried away sheep and camels in abundance, and returned to Jerusalem."
Now, my question is this:
How did they by-pass Egypt, to get from Ethiopia to Jerusalem ?. At the very least they should have negotiated a military  path past "Upper Egypt", before embarking on the journey back to Jerusalem. We know how long that journey, accross the Red Sea, had taken Moses to complete - 40 years or so in the Wilderness.

Please shed some light, will you!
